| On November 26, 1998 A Valued Metro Driver was shot while driving his coach over the Aurora Bridge on route 359. He was driving coach #2181 which at that time was based at North Base when he was shot. His coach went over the Aurora Bridge and landed in the front yard of an apartment building. Sadly Metro Driver Mark McLaughlin was killed when he was shot by a rider riding in the disabled seats of the coach. On December 7th 1998, public services were held for him at key arena, this followed a precession of coaches up 4th avenue to key arena. there were several transit agency's that attended including, Seattle Metro, Pierce Transit, Community Transit, BC Transit (Lower Mainland and Victoria), Pacific Transit, and TRI-MET (Portland, OR) were just some of the companies to send a coach with some mourners to Seattle.
