4100-4199 2001 40ft Trolley

In early 2000 King County Metro Needed to replace their aging AMGeneral Trolley coaches. They partnered with the Gillig Corporation and Alstom to equip 100 new Gillig Phantom bodies with rebuilt propulsion packages from the old AMGeneral Trolley coaches. Alstom rebuilt the Randtronics Chopper Controls, General Electric 1213J5 Traction Motors, and electronics card cages, while Gillig provided the bodies less propulsion packages and trolley poles. The bodies were built by Gillig in their Hayward, CA plant and delivered to Metro's Atlantic base where the propulsion packages, KIEPIE trolley poles, and usual radio and fare box installation were performed and final delivery and acceptance testing done. The first Gillig Trolley coach arrived on metro property in June of 2001, and the first two coaches #4100 and 4101 entered service January 22, 2002.
