Pierce Transit is the public transportation Provider for Tacoma and Pierce County Washington. Pierce Transit was formed in 1979 when the voters of pierce county decided to assume operations over the ailing Tacoma Transit and expand the system into a county wide bus operation. Pierce Transit currently operates New Flyer C40LF's, Orion I.508 in both diesel and CNG versions, Orion 5.501 CNG coaches, and Gillig Phantoms and New Flyer D60LF's for Sound Transit. Pierce Transit has in it's history operated AMG Metropolitans, GMC New looks, Some of the first Eldorado MST's and Twin Coaches.
