101 1998 C40LF "Daffodil Bus"

101 was the leader C40LF for the rest of the 1998 order (102-145). It was built in-between an order of C40LFs's for the Hamilton Street Railway in Ontario, and an order of 25 for BC Transit (now Translink) In Vancouver, BC. It arrived in early 1998 while the rest of the order arrived later on in the year. 101 has a couple of differences from the rest of the order, one is that it has grooved RCA flooring, instead of the flat flooring featured on the rest of the order. The other major difference, is that the exterior panel covering the A/C compartment is flat sheet metal with the route number sign in the lower right corner and the Cyclops stop light and warning flashers mounted in the center. The rest of the C40LF order had a blanked out A/C grill with a centered route number sign flanked by the warning flashers with the Cyclops stop light on top. 101 was originally delivered with a CNG Cummins C8.3 but has since been retrofitted with a CNG Cummins-Westport C+ which was based on the C8.3 that came with the coach. It has an Allison B400R transmission.

101 was repainted in March of 2002 as the Daffodil bus for the daffodil festival, which features the Daffodil queen and parades in various cities in early spring. It replaced the original daffodil bus #401 which was retired upon its return from the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. It is painted overall blue with daffodils all over the sides. Each year the theme for the Daffodil Festival changes and the new one is put on the bus.
