On May 1st 2004, I bought an ex Pierce Transit Orion 1.508 #427. It has a Detroit Diesel 6V92TA with DDEC, and a ZF4HP590 Transmission. it is complete and in-tact except for the Pierce Transit stripes, Farebox, Radio and 3M Opticom TSP. Pierce Transit has finished retiring this type from service in 2007, with the last 4 coaches being turned into a dedicated training fleet.

To my knowledge, this is one of at least 5 preserved Orion 1 coaches in N. America. The Chicagoland Historical Bus Museum has 3 in its collection, The Commonwealth Coach and Trolley Museum ex DASH 1991 Orion 1 #28. Brampton Transit may also have a preserved coach from the early 80's, and in addition there are still a few examples of this type operating in both the United States and Canada.
